In Nepal we support young men and women to become leaders, entrepreneurs and social mobilisers in their communities.
Young people are trained to go into schools and raise awareness of important social issues such as; caste discrimination, child marriage, dowry systems, violence against women and alcohol abuse and build support locally to find solutions. Young people are encouraged to become active citizens. For example at one recent event 336 students vowed not to stay as silent bystanders but to take action against the social problems, such as caste discrimination against the Dalit community (untouchables).
Women and young people are trained and given support to access to resources to start their own businesses, so they can support their own and their families livelihood.
After the earthquake our Field motivators have been busy helping the most remote villages, which lack the access and political influence, to gain vital access to aid, water and agricultural programmes.
We work in collaboration partner organisations to deliver services and support directly to young people. We bring new ways of working, new ways of thinking, to add value and achieve long-term impact.
WHY WE DO IT
We believe that all young people have the right to be active citizens and equal members of society.
Chance for Change, established in 2011 is a UK registered not-for-profit organisation. We design and develop innovative personal development programmes, designed to enable young people to become more independent, entrepreneurial, confident and able to take responsibility for their future direction.
